We have learned that Sioux OL coach Rod Carey has been offered the OL job at Northern Illinois and has accepted it. The Wayzata, MN native was at UND for the last 3 years after coming over from Illinois State as the OL coach in 2008. Definitely a nice promotion for Rod.
Carey has connections with new NIU o-coordinator Matt Canada. Canada was a student assistant at Indiana and eventually a GA during Carey’s playing days at Indiana. Canada was hired recently by new head coach and former Wisconsin d-coordinator Dave Doeren.
Haven’t heard anything about a replacement but will keep you updated. We would like to thank Coach Carey for his time at UND and wish him and his family the best in the future in Dekalb.
