The UND Football program has received a commitment from DE Alec Carrothers of Millard West High School in Omaha, NE. Carrothers, 6’4″-235lbs, was an All-District performer in his senior season.
The Wildcats, led by Head Coach Kirk Peterson, finished the 2011 season with a 6-4 record.
Carrothers appears to be the prototypical defensive end in a 3-4 scheme. He has the height (6’4″) to rush the passer but also has the size (235lbs) to take on the constant double teams that come with being a defensive end in this scheme. He shows good burst and speed on tape. We liken him to current UND defensive end Ross Brenneman, who like Carrothers, is a Millard West attendee and is about the exact same size. If he can have the same career as Brenneman the UND staff will be very happy with this signing.
