Hartley was a late commit to UND, we believe only a few days before signing day. He was originally committed to Wayne State before UND offered him. Hartley is teammates with fellow UND signee Jonathan Harris. He had a bunch of FBS interest in the past year and went on multiple unofficial visits to schools but no offers came.
Hartley has very good size and muscle mass for a high school kid. He shows pretty good speed but his best attribute is his feet. His change of direction and quickness is going to be a huge asset at the OLB position. As one article pointed out, Hartley played at defensive end his junior year and that really didn’t showcase his best assets. His move to linebacker this past season really allowed him to blossom. We believe Hartley could play either outside or inside linebacker for UND. If he played inside he would more than likely be a weakside LB.
Hartley had an impressive 75 tackles and 10 sacks this past season, to along with four forced fumbles.
