A few tidbits we have come across heading into the home stretch of the 2015 recruiting season:
- Wyoming has apparently offered UND commit Harry Momoh. UND was Momoh’s only FCS offer (which tells us it was probably a partial-not sure). For Wyoming to offer him a scholarship, that means they offered a full-ride because that is all FBS teams can offer. I think it is safe to say that they are in panic mode out in Laramie right now. They have been losing recruits left and right, even to FCS teams such as NDSU, UNI, and NAU. Now we see they are moving into Michigan and trying to get a few kids out of there. By our count, the Cowboys only have 15 signees/commits to date.
- This is not a total surprise as this is the week (2 weeks before signing day) where every school begins to worry a bit and wants to fill their classes asap. The Big Ten robs the MAC, MAC robs FCS, FCS robs D2….and so on. Just the nature of the beast. There are still a bunch of high quality players left but the stakes are raised during the home stretch.
- We expect a small group of recruits this weekend. UND only has 8 spots remaining to fill and we would expect them to keep 1-2 open for the spring in case a player falls into their lap, etc. Expect them to try and get 6 more commits by signing day.
- UND seemed to have pretty good retention on their roster, post Xmas break. The only player we have heard that is not still with the team is DL Marcus Cheatom, who played sparingly this past season. This is a good sign.
