The 2016 UND Football season is officially underway.
The team reported to camp today with the first two days being meetings, physicals, equipment and so forth.
Media Day is set for tomorrow at 11am – Alerus Center.
The first practice is Friday, August 5th at 8:30am – Memorial Stadium.
A few notes from the past few days:
- Confirmed that OL Elijah Grady is no longer with the team. He chose to stay at home after trying to make it work over the past six months.
- True freshman RB Isaiah Secrest decided to go back home after spending the month of July working out with the team. Very odd move but that happens at times. Our speculation is the depth and the age of that depth at running back didn’t help matters.
- Number Changes for 2016
- Jade Lawrence – #2
- Tyus Carter – #3
- Oscar Nevermann – #27
- Austin Gordon – #28
UND released the new helmet that happens to bear the new Hawk logo on it. You can see the images below.
We like the fact they outlined it in white to emphasize the Hawk/ND and not allow it to bleed into the green helmet paint.
The numbers seem a bit fat to us based on the font selected, but we like the touch of putting numbers on one side. Overall…thumbs up!
