Being it’s freezing outside and not much is happening we thought it may be time to brain dump a bit.  UND is back in session for second semester so the players have now begun winter workouts.

First, we would like to welcome a new sponsor to UND Football 360 – Grand Forks Country Club.  The GFCC is one of the finest golf courses in the entire region and also offers multiple family activities, along with full banquet services, etc.  The Country Club has been staple of the region for over 50 years and we are very excited to partner with them.

The Hawks had three true freshman arrive at semester break.  QB’s Reid Neal & Quincy Vaughn, along with running back Creighton Mitchell all are enrolled and working out with the team.  This is obviously huge for the quarterback room as UND only has one other QB on the roster in freshman Tommy Schuster.  Don’t discount the positive effect it will have on the receivers, as well, as they now have more arms throwing passes to them in the High Performance Center.

The defensive line job will officially close on January 28th.  Expect an announcement very soon after – probably the next day.

UND is not hosting a recruiting weekend until February 1st.  They signed a big class (26) in the early period so will only be bringing in a few prospects on that last weekend before signing day, which is Feb. 5th.  That weekend will also be their first “2021 Junior Day”, where they bring in current juniors to tour the campus and facilities.

CB C.J. Siegel was recently named to the Freshman All-America Team by Phil Steele.  Siegel had 2 INT’s and 12 PBU’s this past season while also starting all 12 games, which is very tough to do for a freshman.

A benefit for Hunter Pinke is planned for tomorrow, January 17th.  The UND chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, of which Pinke was heavily involved, will be hosting the benefit at Hope Church in Grand Forks at 7pm.

Former Louisville/Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino will be visiting the Alerus Center on Oct 10th.  Petrino was named the new head coach of Missouri State today.  His contract calls for a base salary of $250,000 per year, which is about middle of the pack in the MVFC.  UND coach Bubba Schweigert has a base salary of $215,000 for the upcoming 2020 season.
