If there is one position group that’s vital to success in the sport of football it’s the offensive line.

The best teams typically have a solid-to-dominant offensive line. UND is undoubtedly aware of that based on their most recent commitments.

On June 6th the Hawks got their first offensive line commit in Waconia, MN product Bennett Weber.  The upside is huge with Weber as he currently sits at 6’4″-270 but shows a lean frame. He appears to have good bend, plays with flexibility, and has a nice pop off the line.

Weber played all over the offensive line for the Wildcats but we see him starting out at tackle but also rotating down to guard.  The offensive lineman at UND all need to know two positions, minimum.

UND currently has another Waconia OL on their roster in sophomore Connor Kruse.

Yesterday, local standout Peyton Lotysz of Red River High School gave Bubba Schweigert his verbal commitment.

Lotysz was a high-priority recruit for several reasons.  First off, he grew up in Grand Forks and was raised on UND Football.  Second, he goes 6’2″-250 and moves very well for his size. Last but not least, his father, Greg, played for UND from 1994-1998 and was an All-American his senior season, eventually going on to play a couple seasons with the New York Jets.

We project Lotysz as playing either guard or center based on his ability to pull and reach defenders. He has obviously been taught well as he has solid technique and good drive after initial impact.

When looking at the top North Dakota players it’s clear Lotysz is the top offensive lineman and one of the Top 5 players in the Class of 2020.  Others in the Top 5 could be UND commit Elijah Klein -Davies safety Ty Satter – HCVHS LB Oscar Benson, and RB Nathan Goldade of Sheyenne HS (just hurt his knee and will miss his senior season – feel terrible for him).
