Even though the season is underway, recruiting never stops in the world of college football.
This proved true again as UND received a commitment from Kason Kelley of Millard North High School on Tuesday. Kelley, 6’2″-220, is projected as an inside linebacker at the collegiate level.
Kelley is the 5th linebacker commitment to this class.
The Hawks staff found out about Kelley as the Iowa camp this past summer and kept in touch until he could make it up to campus – which happened on the opening weekend of the season vs. Drake.
Kelley shows very good tackling form and explosion on tape – a definite “thumper”. He has good speed and instincts for an inside linebacker, which is obviously vital in UND’s 3-4 defense. He reminds us of current UND ILB Noah Larson. Similar size and style of play.
He notched 74 tackles & 9 TFL’s to go along with two fumble recoveries last season for the Mustangs.
Kelley is the 19th commitment to the Class of 2020. He is also the 2nd commitment from the state of Nebraska, joining safety Chase Perchal of Millard South High School.

LOOKS like an LB. Great size and every tackle he makes involves ball carrier going backwards. Is he fast/quick enough for MVC?
Hard to tell his high-end speed on tape but he looks like he moves pretty well between the hashes and within the framework of the defense.
Thanks
I got a brief Ratelle feel, but that’s not fair to the kid.
