Typically at this time of the year we are knee deep in recruiting and summer camp updates.  The recruiting part has been there but the camps aren’t.

Rumors

However, there are still things going down on campus and within the UND football program.

The football staff is waiting to move into their new “temporary” Starcher Hall offices. The work is close to being completed and our best guess would be middle of July before they get in.  Fall camp is tentatively set to start on August 5th.  However, the team can get meetings/video work going with players on July 22nd.

The team will move into their new locker rooms over at Hyslop around that same time.  They will be taking over locker rooms that were used by the UND Swimming & Diving teams before the program was cut in 2017.

The ND State Board of Higher Education recently gave UND the approval to tear down historic Memorial Stadium.  We assume this come shortly after the staff/players get completely moved out.  The weight room has been shut down for a few years now but the equipment room & storage areas would also need to be completely moved out prior to demolition.

It appears via Twitter that UND has picked up a few new assistant coaches over the past 5-6 months.  They are not listed on the website but are typically “GA” type of coaches that are always valuable to have on staff.

As Tom Miller wrote about in the Grand Forks Herald, UND tested their student-athletes & campus members for Covid-19.  The testing was conducted by the National Guard and is typical of what is going on around the country in collegiate athletic departments.  It appears all testing went well and overall there were only four positive results – but, it does not mean they were athletes as people from all over campus were tested.

The Hawks are currently sitting at seven commitments to the Class of 2021, which is pretty typical for this time of year.  Here are some names that we are watching when it comes to potential commits. It doesn’t mean they are imminent but it does mean they have been on our radar for awhile now.
