The folks over at the UND Athletic department have been hard at work laying out the future of UND football scheduling.
In the latest Bill Chaves Podcast, External AD Kyle Doperalski and Chaves lay out three new home & home FCS games along with the future FBS games that have been speculated at over the past month or so.
On this week's #BillChavesPod:
Bill and Alex look at the new additions to future @UNDfootball schedules as @Kyle_Doperalski, the Associate AD for External Operations for UND Athletics, joins the pod.

Interesting that UND is leveraging their relationships with the Big Sky teams to keep them on the future schedules. Being that the Hawks join the MVFC in 2020, it makes a ton of sense to schedule Big Sky teams to keep familiarity on the schedule for the fans while also boosting their resume with solid teams.
We also love the fact that UND is moving their FBS focus to the midwest with the addition of Missouri, Kansas State, Iowa State and Nebraska. That is the area they will be playing and recruiting in so it only makes sense. Nice work by Doperalski and Chaves.
Doperalski also stated in the podcast that UND is fully scheduled out through 2021. They are currently working to fill the 2022 schedule.
New FCS Home & Home Agreements
Portland State
- at Portland State – October 24, 2020
- at North Dakota – September 6, 2025
Idaho State
- at Idaho State – September 4, 2021
- at North Dakota – September 14, 2024
Northern Arizona
- at Northern Arizona – September 17, 2022
- at North Dakota – September 9, 2023
Future FBS Schedule
2019 – no game
2020 – Kansas State
2021 – Utah State
2022 – Nebraska
2023 – Washington
2024 – Iowa State
2025 – Missouri
2026 – Nebraska
Any idea on the buyout amounts for the 2nd games of the home and home agreements? UND on the road for the first game of all 3.
Chaves stated “9.5 out of 10 teams” want to start at home. Basically he said they got the homes and homes to work because they will go on the road first and their future schedules worked out with doing it that way. Not sure on the buyouts.
Montana, Montana St and Eastern Washington would be far, far more appealing than Portland St, Northern Colorado or Idaho St
That certainly may be true on paper but when you factor in that UND is going to join the MVFC in 2020….not so much. Having NDSU, SDSU, USD, UNI, ISU, and Montana or EWU on the schedule is a bit adventurous.
Well there is that.
