We had a feeling there may be some action yesterday for a variety of reasons. Most of all because of how well the weekend went for the Bubba Schweigert and staff. There were positive reactions all over social media and that usually leads to good things.
However, in no way did we think they would pull four commitments – all at vital positions to this recruiting class.
The day started off with a OT Ben Jansen of Kenosha, WI committing. The 6’8″-260 behemoth has a huge upside as his tape shows a pretty athletic looking kid. A project for sure but at 6’8″ you take that challenge.
Then, DE Elijah Beach from Streamwood, IL gave a somewhat surprise commitment on Twitter. Beach had a great camp season and brings size and twitch to the defensive end position. In a 3-4 scheme its huge to get a kid who can beat double-teams and make plays up front.

Shortly after that QB Cedric Case of Lincoln, NE announced his commitment via Twitter. Our sources up at Elite Camp informed us that Case dominated the QB position throughout the day. Made all the throws all while showing off his quick release and footwork. It was only a matter of time before UND offered. It will be exciting to watch Case perform during his senior season alongside fellow UND commit Darius Luff.
Excited to have received my first Division 1 offer from the University of North Dakota, and with that I’m blessed to announce my commitment to UND as well! #TakeFl19ht ???? pic.twitter.com/EPCajYKUVd

In somewhat of a surprise WR Chrysten Cochran of River Rouge, MI committed via Twitter, as well. He popped up on our radar just this past week and UND offered this past weekend. At 6’1″-175, Cochran can bring that mid-size receiver to UND’s current lineup of multiple 6’3″-6’5″ wideouts.
“But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.”

This brings the Hawks current commit count to an astounding 16, which is by far the most they have ever had this early in the game. The December early signing period has completely changed the recruiting season. Now, offers are put out in March-May and the real work is trying to get those kids to attend one of your camps in June/July and see what you have to offer. Interesting times indeed.
