The excitement of the beginning of fall camp also has a dark side to it.  This is the time of year where injuries start to get reported from fall camp.  The goal is to try and minimize those injuries and still get good, solid practices in to prepare the team for the opener at Idaho.

Rumors

The first significant injury has occurred at probably the worst possible position for it to happen on the field for UND.  Jarrell Davis, the senior who switched from RB to WR this year, has a fracture in his left foot.  Not only will his athletic ability be missed on the field, but his leadership may be missed even more.  Reports are that he has been a great addition for the locker room and on the field in terms of becoming a leader since his arrival from JUCO last year.  The younger guys at his position group will have to step up immediately.  Maybe this pulls the redshirt off the freshman who is most ready to go this fall.  It might also give some more reps to younger guys who need them more.  It will depend on how long “Chili”, which is what his teammates affectionately refer to him as, will be out for.  Preliminary guesses are a few weeks at minimum.  We’ll try keep you updated on his status throughout fall camp.

As we questioned before, “Who will step up?”.

We are starting to get into the meat and potatoes of fall camp.  The first day of two-a-days is scheduled for today with the morning practice being a full-padded practice and the afternoon being “shells” only.
