We have confirmed, via Coach Mike Pendino, that the Sioux have received a verbal commitment from a Minneapolis metro athlete. Dayo Idowu of East Ridge High School in Woodbury, MN is the latest athlete to commit to UND. Â
Idowu, 6′-1″ – 190, played QB for East Ridge High this year but we feel he will end up on the defensive side of the ball in college, possibly at OLB or Safety. He would definitely fall in the category of “athlete”. Coach Pendino stated, “Dayo is a great athlete, runs well, and very physical. I think he will be a very good safety that can run the alley, invert if need be and cover”.Â
Idowu led the fledgling school from an inaugural 0-9 season to a 7-3 record in only their second season of football.  He is also a very good basketball player for the Raptors.Â
Welcome to UND Dayo. Thanks for the update Fritz. Its been pretty quiet as of late.
Good pick-up for UND. This kid’s a versatile athlete who should excel at the collegiate level.
Have not been at HS BB game here in a number of years, but noticed in the East Ridge Pioneer Press box scores the last couple of games that Idowu has not been listed in the scoring summary. Hurt or not playing? Any info?
Its been hard to find info on Idowu for any sport. I think part of the reason is that his HS in only 2 years old and is brand new. Idowu is an under the radar recruit too. I think he will end up being a steal. He is very athletic.
Dayo had 7 pts last night. ER is in its second year of existence, first year with a senior class. Plays in the St Paul Suburban conference with other large, quality, schools.
WSF,
Did you get a chance to watch him play basketball in person?
I have not seen him play, do not go to HS games now that my kids are gone. The fact that he showed up in the box score again though is a relief as there were a couple of games where his name was missing and I thought perhaps he was hurt. The Woodbury Bulletin, a sister paper of the Herald carries the info on the team each week if you want to follow the him more closely.
Dayo had 5 pts the other night in his most recent BB game. Also, the Feb 3 Pioneer Press reports that the East Ridge signing ceremony is TODAY, Feb 3. Not sure what that means in terms of whether he still plans on attending UND or not, but it could be a part of the reason he has not yet shown a committment.
