UND is officially in the dog days of fall camp.  Guys are getting nicked up, it’s hot out and everyone just wants to play a game.

  • Starting RG Demon Taylor was seen walking around with a boot on for the last couple practices.  Doesn’t sound like it’s serious, however.
  • Starting DE Noah Johnson was in just a jersey and shorts today.  Probably preventative, as well.
  • The starting CB’s were Tyus Carter and Deion Harris.  Torrey Hunt and Evan Holm were running with the #2’s.
  • RG Grant Aplin appeared to be in the with the #1’s in place of Taylor.
  • There are still major issues with shotgun snaps this fall.  Both Centers, Michael Coe and Patric Rooney, are snapping errantly on a daily basis, both high and low.  At practice, Coach Schweigert was obviously not pleased with the situation.   That needs to be shored up or UND is going to have problems vs. a stout defense like Stony Brook.
  • The wildcard at WR right now is true freshman Noah Wanzek.  We are almost certain that fellow true freshman Travis Toivonen is going to play, based on his body size, 6’3-205.  Wanzek has been making big plays consistently but is somewhat slight at 6’4-185.  He could benefit greatly from a full fall of lifting weights but we will see if UND needs him.
  • The Top 7 WR’s right now are Clive Georges, Luke Stanley, Stetson Carr, Travis Toivonen, Demun Mercer, Alex Reed and Tim Dulin.  Those seven would more than likely travel the first two games because of increased roster spots for OOC games.
  • DE Daquan Baker has quit the team.  He was buried on the depth chart and most certainly wasn’t going to travel.  Baker was a transfer from New Mexico.
