Harris committed to UND back on December 19th, 2013.  At that time UND still had not hired a coach meaning Harris was basically committing to the program, not a coach.  He’s a pretty raw athlete who has played all over the field.  The Hibbing standout stuck with his commitment and confirmed it this past weekend on his official visit to the UND campus.

Harris played quarterback in his senior season out of necessity.  He was normally a wide receiver on offense but was moved to QB to help get the ball in his hands and give him a chance to make plays.  Harris showed pretty good speed on film and nice cutting ability/athleticism.

On defense Harris played cornerback for Hibbing.  On tape he shows very good footwork and athletic ability out there on the field.  We think he has a shot to start out playing corner at UND if his hips and speed translate.  With some good coaching, he could be a very unique player with his size and length being a huge plus for him moving forward as UND does not have many defensive backs that stand 6’2″, much less at corner.  That could easily put him in contention for a dime-back spot early in his career as it is always nice to have some size in the alleys.  If things don’t pan out at corner, he is definitely projectable as a Big Sky Conference safety for the defense.  We fully expect Harris to redshirt this upcoming season.  However, UND’s weakest spot roster-wise is the cornerback position so we will need to re-evaluate that statement after spring ball.
