UND received their sixth known commitment to the Class of 2013 when DL Garett Cary gave his verbal commitment to the program a few days ago. Cary, 6’3″-265, was an All-Conference, All-Region, and All-State pick in his senior season for Bigfoot Union High School in Walworth, Wisconsin (which is southwest of Milwaukee).  He excelled on both the offensive and defensive line in high school but we project him as being a defensive tackle/nose guard in college.  On defense he had 92 tackles and 8 sacks in his time at Bigfoot.

Cary is also a standout wrestler for the Chiefs.  He placed 4th in the D2 heavweight division at the state tournament as a junior.

Cary should be a candidate to make an immediate impact for UND whether it is this fall or after a redshirt year.  He possesses very good feet for a big man and can move up and down the line with ease.  Cary is also ultra-aggressive, as evidenced in his recruiting tape and his wresting background – which we love.  Wrestlers make good football players.  This is a very good get for UND as they need help along the defensive line.

Cary had offers from Illinois State and Southeast Missouri State.
