It was released today via FightingSioux.com that Jack Michaels, the longtime radio icon from the Bismarck-Mandan area, has been named the new play-by-play voice for Fighting Sioux Football. He will replace Dan Hammer, who left the radio business to move over to the TV side of things at KVLY-TV11.
Michaels was voice of the Mary Marauders for the past 5 seasons and will bring a wealth of experience to calling UND football games. UND AD Brian Faison has caught a lot of flack lately for his football scheduling and the name issue but we have to commend him on this move. Like we stated earlier here, this was very important and is a “grand-slam” type of hire. UND could not have gotten anybody better.
We are assuming Mike Berg will continue to be the color guy for broadcasts since we haven’t heard differently. He has done a great job and we enjoy his insights as a former coach.
