The Sunday before Signing Day is always a nerve-racking night for football staffs across the country.  They typically find out their fate with the few coveted recruits who have not committed at that point.

Rumors

Last night Bubba Schweigert and DC Eric Schmidt found themselves on the receiving end of great news as CB Samuel Fort gave his verbal commitment to the Fighting Hawks.

Fort, 6’0-180, hails from St. George, VA and played for Blue Ridge High School (Head Coach Jimmy Wills).  St. George is located just north of Charlottesville and about 2 hours from Washington D.C.  He does have ties to Iowa, however, which is what led the Hawks staff to finding out about Fort.

Most of the Missouri Valley Football Conference offered Fort at one point in the past 6-8 months and it’s not hard to see why.  He is a physical specimen and shows great speed to go along with excellent DB technique.  Fort is your aggressive type of corner who will press and provide solid run support.

Fort was also a standout running back for the Barons along with returning kickoffs, a service we could see him providing at UND.

Fort joins Matt Koshiol, Jayson Coley and Haley Bucholz as Class of 2019 defensive backs expected to sign with UND on Wednesday.

Head Coach Bubba Schweigert is closing quite well as we approach signing day with the recent additions of Luke Skokna, Luke Herzog, and Fort.
