UND recently extended their television contract with Midco Sports Network for another five years.  There was one year left on the current contract but it sounds as if there was no reason to wait any longer.  The new contract will take them through the 2021-2022 season.

The new contract is worth $1.425 million dollars over the five years, or $285,000 per year.

Press Release

Some of the highlights of the contact:

  1. There will be a minimum of 40 live televised UND sporting events per season in HD, including all home Men’s Hockey, all Football home games, five home BB games for Men and Women, four home Women’s Hockey games, and three home volleyball games.   Nice cross section.
  2. A live, 60-minute program that will air on the morning of national signing day for football.  The signing day special will feature UND coaches and their analysis of the signing class.   This is awesome and pretty big time to have a live show on signing day.
  3. Beginning in 2017, MidcoSN will produce a weekly UND football show, featuring in-studio guests, game analysis and feature profiles.

UND Football is definitely a beneficiary of this new contract.  It is quite obvious that increasing the football program’s exposure was made a priority in these negotiations.  Nicely done by the Brian Faison, Midco Sports Network and the Athletic Department staff.
