Name: DONNELL RODGERS
School: Woodbury High School, Woodbury, MN (Coach Andy Hill)
Vitals: Outside Linebacker (#44) 6’1″ – 205 lbs
The UND Football Program has added their third Class of 2015 Twin Cities commitment.
Donnell Rodgers is projected as an outside linebacker in UND’s 3-4 scheme. We see him being a Stud OLB, meaning he would be on the strongside. He has a thick frame and is a rugged type of football player, which bodes well vs. tackles/tight ends in the run game. Rodgers has pretty good speed and should be able to drop and cover a TE down the seam or RB in the flat. Being he was a standout running back for the Royals, we certainly do not question his agility and overall athleticism, which appear to be above average.
Rodgers will need to work on flexibility and increase his agility to be an effective OLB at the FCS level. UND’s OLB’s need to play sideline to sideline while also being the main rushing threats off the edge vs. the passing game.
As a running back, Rodgers had 787 yards and 9 TD’s rushing for the Royals in his senior season. Rodgers is also the #22 ranked recruit in the state of Minnesota by 247Sports.
