The UND Football program has received their first verbal commitment to the Class of 2015.  Elijah Grady of New Town High School in New Town, ND committed to UND yesterday after an unofficial visit to campus.

To say Grady (6’5″ – 275) is an all-around outstanding athlete is an understatement.  Besides football, Grady is a standout basketball player for the Eagles.  In the spring Grady throws shot put and discus, which he won last spring at the State Class B meet (beating fellow UND signee Austin Cieslak).  For good measure, he also boxes on the side.  Boxers always have outstanding footwork and hand quickness – a good combo that translates well to the gridiron for defensive lineman.  According to pictures on the internet he must be alright at it because he has a belt or two.

Grady is the exact type of player that UND needs more of in their program.  He is a hard working, multi-sport athlete born and raised in the North Dakota.  He wanted to come to UND, as his Dad attended UND also, which is always a bonus.  He will add much needed size and athleticism to UND’s defensive line corps.
