The 4th WR of the 2012 recruiting class has verbally committed to UND. Zach Oliver is a big, physical 6-4, 205 pound wideout from Omaha Burke High School and is the newest addition to a loaded class of receivers that will arrive on campus this fall as freshman at UND.
Omaha Burke competes in Nebraska’s biggest class of football and Head Coach Paul Limongi’s Bulldogs finished the 2011 season 12-1 after losing in the Class A State Championship Game at Memorial Stadium to Lincoln Southeast 21-9.
Oliver finished the season with 55 catches for 1,040 yards and 10 touchdowns in 13 games and was named 1st Team All-Metro and 1st Team All-Nebraska at the wide receiver position by the Omaha World Herald. The Lincoln Journal Star also named Oliver 1st Team All-State.
While Oliver is not a burner, he has shown repeatedly on film that he has the innate ability to go up and get the ball in traffic over smaller defensive backs and should develop into a huge asset downfield for the UND offense. He has also shown the ability to make moves in the open field to avoid defenders in 1-0n-1 tackling situations, which is very impressive given his size. It is very evident that he is already put together very well physically for his height.
Oliver ultimately chose UND over Illinois State and is the 1st addition to the 2012 recruiting class from Nebraska, the 4th addition to the UND roster from the Omaha metro area and the 5th overall from the state of Nebraska (Hardin, Brenneman, Adler, Jablonsky).
One has to assume at this point that someone isn’t returning.
It certainly looks like it or maybe Fletcher was recruited as a safety.
That definitely could be, he is a good enough athlete.
We are thinking either that or a previous player has decommitted. Either way, Oliver is a stud and is a good get at any time. A friend of ours down in Omaha said he is all of 6’4″ and 200 pounds.
Seems like a very nice addition to the class. Especially love his size.

Look for a previously committed WR to defect on signing day. I just hope it’s not Golladay.
Oliver looks to physically be the best WR in this class so far that we have seen film on, sans Golladay who we have heard great things about. We cannot find film on Golladay however.
As long as the de-commitment isn’t Golladay, I will be ecstatic with this WR class and you could make an argument that this COULD be the best WR class in UND Football history to sign on the dotted line. In my opinion Oliver and Golladay are 1 and 1A, with Fletcher and Taylor being close to each other after that. Fletcher and Taylor remind me a lot of each other except Fletcher is 2 inches taller. Again, my opinion on Golladay is purely based on speculation since there is no substantial film out there that we can find. Please keep that in mind.

Do you know that one of the WRs is not signing here or is that just speculation?
My bet is on Anthony Taylor not signing. I posted an article on Siouxsports that shows him as a Eastern Illinois commit. I still really like the WR in this class and our crop of WR will get better come Wednesday.

What about Casey Young in the WR mix? We were hearing very good things about him last year. Will he be in the mix this year? He’s 6′ 2″ and very good athletic and good hands. How does he fit in the next few years?
Yes, we believe Casey Young is very much in the mix. He came in highly touted and should get a shot next season.
what about Roman Bridges or Marco Barientos?
